When Syria and Egypt launched their devastating surprise attack on Israel in 1973, Itzhak Brook sprang into action as a battalion physician. Learn more about the Yom Kippur War and its effects on Israeli society through this courageous doctor’s intimate portrait of his wartime experiences.
Copies of Brook’s autobiographical book, In the Sands of Sinai, will be available for purchase and signing after the talk.
About the Author: Itzhak Brook is a Professor of Pediatrics at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington DC. Born and raised in Haifa, he earned his medical degree from Hebrew University, Hadassah School of Medicine, in Jerusalem. He served in the Israeli army as a medic in the Six Day War and as a battalion physician during the Yom Kippur war. Author of several hundred publications in scientific journals and ten textbooks, Dr. Brook has also written In the Sands of Sinai: A Physician’s Account of the Yom Kippur War.
