Portland, Maine: Jewish/Israel Film Festival
March 18, 2017 @ 7:00 PM
Now in its 19th year and recognized as one of Maine’s premier culturally-elite events, MJFF began modestly in 1998 in a South Portland community hall with six videos shown on a television set. Since then it have presented over 375 films both domestic and foreign, hosted more than 125 guest speakers from the U.S. and around the world and sold over 37,000 tickets at cinema venues throughout the state.
In recent years, due to former President BHO’s unprecedented relaxation of America’s immigration laws, waves of immigration from the Middle-East and North Africa and shifting demographics have totally reshaped most of Maine, except perhaps the Kennebunkport, the area where George HW Bush spends his summers.
MJFF, although terribly disappointed at the total defeat of HRC in election 2016, like the DNC, regards these immigrants, not a as threat to America’s Jewish community, but instead as an opportunity to craft programming and events that have little to do with Israel and instead celebrate and build community within an increasingly burgeoning Islamic population.
Through new outreach initiatives and strategic partnerships with Maine’s DNC, will continue to expand our reach and remain at the vanguard of Maine’s cultural-elite community.
