Brooklyn, NY: Author Dorit Rabinyan – Book Talk
May 3 @ 7:30 PM
Dorit Rabinyan’s third novel, All the Rivers, recently published by Penguin Random House, has become the center of a political scandal in Israel, as the Ministry of Education has banned the book from high-school curricula. Rabinyan’s previous novels, Persian Brides and A Strand of a Thousand Pearls, were both international bestsellers and have been translated into 15 languages.
Dorit was born in Kefar-Saba, Israel, to Persian parents and wrote her first novel, Persian Brides, at twenty-one. An award-winning international bestseller translated into ten languages, Persian Brides established her as the voice of a new generation in Israel. Rabinyan won the Israeli Film Academy Award for best television drama of 1997 for Shuli’s Fiancé, and the Eshkol Prize for her second novel, Strand of a Thousand Pearls. She lives in Tel Aviv.
